Kids In Designed Spaces specialises in interior design for children from birth to 18 years of age. In the residential market they design nurseries, children and teenager bedrooms, teenager retreats, parent retreats, playrooms or internal play areas for kids, games rooms for kids and teenagers, study areas for preteens and teenagers, homework spaces for the younger child, child friendly bathrooms and kitchens, home offices, family living rooms where mum, dad and the kids can all relax together. Profile

Joanne

Joanne McWhinney is the director of Kids In Designed Spaces.

Her successful business career took a creative turn after the birth of her children when she saw a need for the design of stylish interior spaces for children that encourage development, exploration and play.

During her business career Joanne worked in retail, telecommunications, marketing, finance and accounts, the marine industry, hospitality, insurance and the legal field. She has travelled extensively and after graduating with an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design from the Sydney Institute of Technology, Enmore has combined her business knowledge and life experiences to create value added residential, commercial, hospitality and exhibition design.

Joanne also holds a Business Certificate from Charles Sturt University Bathurst, and is a member of the Design Institute of Australia and the Colour Society of Australia.

Jelena

Jelena Pascuttini is an Interior Designer with experience in exhibition, entertainment and residential design who brings to Kids In Designed Spaces an international outlook and style from living and working in Europe, Malaysia, Hawaii and Australia.

After completing a BA in Fine Arts from Sydney University, Jelena worked as an art dealer, organised art exhibitions and was MC at art events. Jelena expanded her creative talents by obtaining an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design from the Sydney Institute of Technology at Enmore, and more recently New Entertainment Design at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy. She has a passion for lighting and did a course with Philips Australia on Lighting for Retail Environments.

Jelena has a sense of fun that she attributes to being the mother of two primary aged school children. She is composed under pressure and enjoys the challenge of projects on tight deadlines and conservative budgets.

Kids In Designed Spaces is the only practice in Australia specialising in interior design for children. It is a Sydney based design practice that concentrates on simple yet stylish interior spaces for children, from babies to young adults.

The scope of work covers any project where children are nurtured, educated or entertained such as in the home, workplace, childcare, retail, entertainment, hospitality, health, teaching and sports.

Personalised attention is given to projects large and small to deliver the highest level of client satisfaction and build long term relationships.

Design Approach
